The PTO and Officer Jan Cunningham of the East Bridgewater
Police Department Sponsor an "i-Parent Campaign" Evening
You
are invited to attend an i-Parent Program to learn how parents around
the country are making their homes and communities Internet safe through
the i-Parent Campaign.
You Look Out For Them in the Real World… Do You Know
What They’re
Doing Online? Have you viewed Dateline?
1 in 8 children have been asked
by someone on the Internet to meet face to face. It’s never to
Early to learn about internet safety.
According to an ongoing i-SAFE
poll—
• Just under half of all 7th Graders visit Internet chat rooms.
• Nearly 70% of 8th Graders admitted to having "flamed" someone
(sent a hurtful or angry online message).
• Over 30% of high school seniors have posted their photo on
the web and up to 20% have met someone face-to- face they came to
know
online.
Learn how to:
• Protect your family from online risks.
• Avoid being victimized by Internet predators.
• Be part of a nationwide Internet safety education campaign.
i-SAFE recognizes that a digital divide exists between parents and their children
when it comes to the use of technology. In most
cases, the kids
know more about
the Internet and new technology than their parents. That is
why i-SAFE launched the i-PARENT Campaign - a nationwide movement of students,
parents, educators
and public officials - to inform parents about the dangers
their
kids face online and offer tips to help protect them.
